Finding a good tasting vegan ice cream in the grocery stores can be very challenging. Some taste too artificial, some taste nothing like traditional ice cream, and some taste down right nasty. After all my trial and errors with different brands, I have found the top 6 vegan ice cream brands that all have good qualities to them. The brands include; Halo Top, So Delicious, Archer Farms, Oatly!, Ben & Jerry's, and Nada Moo.
So let's talk about them!
Archer farms does a great job in flavor and texture. The ice cream is not too thick and doesn't have the ice crystal formation that some bad vegan brands do. This flavor is really good for those who like very sugary tastes.
Ben and Jerry's vegan ice cream has a very hard consistency, which reminds me of tiny ice cream shops along the North Shore in Minnesota. The flavors are always a 10/10 and the texture is moderately smooth.
Now I have to be honest, this flavor of Halo Top is nasty. It tastes like play dough. However, when relating this coconut milk ice cream to dairy ice cream, the lightness is there. It reminds me of a cheaper ice cream brand that one would get at the grocery store when they are on a budget. Not terrible, but not great. I recommend getting a different flavor as the other ones are much better.
Oatly does a great job at getting the flavors right. When they say the flavor is coffee, they mean it. The consistency is similar to Kemps and has a great smooth and creamy texture. Any coffee lover would love this ice cream.
Nada Moo is by far the one that has the most normal ice cream feel. It tastes and feels like it came from a local creamery.
Can we say smooth? Holy crap this So Delicious ice cream hits smooth right on the head. The ice cream melts in your mouth and tastes amazing.
I recommend all of these ice cream brands to vegans and non-vegans alike. I tried them with my non-vegans parents and they enjoyed them.
I agree with r ice cream choices! I loved the fudge brownie and the strawberry !!!
