With those many said years of experience reading all types of books, I have found that there are two types of reading. The first is when one grabs a book to read for entertainment. It could be about a dystopian future, a far away kingdom, or swash buckling pirates. The second type of reading is where the book teaches one something about life, other people, the world, etc.
I love reading classics for this very reason, because it is incredible to have an eye opening experience and to be able to see certain topics or people in a new light. I thought I would share my favorite classics that some may have forgotten about, so you all too can remember the feeling of reading a good book.
My top 15 favorite classics (in no particular order):
- Any works from William Shakespeare, however my favorite would have to be Romeo and Juliet because I am a sucker for tragic romances.
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin.
- Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte.
- Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.
- The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck.
- Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger.
- To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (and let's never talk about about the way too late sequel).
- The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.
- Animal Farm by George Orwell.
- 1984 by George Orwell.
- Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston.
- Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad.
- The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne.
- The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
- Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.
So there they are! Some will make you feel like you can do anything, a couple will make you worried for our not so distant future, and others you will need a tissue box for. All are amazing titles written by the best of the best. Let me know if you have read any of these and what you thought about them!
I would LOVE to start reading again ; just so busy with life. I will try to read some of these suggestions !! Keep adding new reads , thanks
